| Abstract: | The present Bachelor-Thesis deals with the stained glass windows of the Roman-Catholic church St. Martin in Mackenrode (Eichsfeld). The stained glass comprises two round-arch windows with one light made up of four panels each. This thesis covers art historic and archival research, enabling an accurate determination of the windows’ date to the beginning of the 20th century. Stylistic comparisons show a relation to the rectangular window of the Hl.-Geist-Spital in Heiligenstadt. A survey and an evaluation of the present state and condition provide the basis of a conservation treatment relating to material and structural aspects. The resulting concept of measures will finally focus on the damage as found, on the preservation of the extant material and on possibilities of preventive measures. |
